Glad Tidings! Production Transformation Model of the Year of Dingge Award 2022
Recently, the much-anticipated “2022 Dingge Award—Digital Transformation Pioneer List” was announced and Beijing Institute of Biological Products (BIBP) subordinate to China National Biotec Group (CNBG) of China National Pharmaceutical Group (SINOPHARM) was awarded the “Production Transformation Model of the Year” for its intelligent upgrade of COVID-19 vaccine filling and packaging production line.

The Dingge Award—Digital Transformation Pioneer List is an enterprise digital transformation award co-sponsored by Harvard Business Review China and SAP with the academic support from Institute for Global Industry, Tsinghua University. It aims to explore outstanding cases of digital transformation and illuminate the road of innovation for Chinese enterprises in digital transformation. Since its establishment, the Dingge Award always adheres to the theoretical model research and field investigation combined evaluation method, exploring the most authentic and cutting-edge cases of digital transformation among enterprises. It has drawn much attention and become an authoritative digital transformation award in the industry.In 2021, BIBP actively carried out the guiding principles from the major speech delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping on ‘working together to build a global community of health for all’, carefully implemented the decisions and arrangements of CPC Central Committee and the State Council, and kept the assured production and supply of COVID-19 vaccine to support global COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control as its first priority. In order to boost the production capability, BIBP dedicated itself to the automatic, digital and intelligent upgrade of COVID-19 vaccine production line in the plant area, in an effort to build an intelligent plant. Within a year, BIBP deployed and implemented the manufacturing execution system (MES), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), intelligent quality control system, electronic supervision code system, robotic packing, palletizing and warehousing and supporting facilities, and comprehensively upgraded the network infrastructure.

After the upgrade, the networking rate of equipment for BIBP’s COVID-19 vaccine production line was significantly increased, the productivity was comprehensively improved, the production can be guaranteed continuous, safe and stable in accordance with the high quality standards of WHO and EU all the time. So far, BIBP’s COVID-19 vaccine has been approved and admitted in 119 countries/regions and international organizations, covering the population of 196 countries, more than 3.5 billion doses were produced and supplied at home and abroad, which fulfills the solemn promise of making Chinese COVID-19 vaccine a global public good.The Dingge Award not only recognizes the BIBP’s efforts in the construction of digital capability over the past year, but also further boosts the confidence in promoting digital transformation. In the future, BIBP will continue to benchmark against world-class enterprises, learn from advanced experience, further drive the deep integration of new generation of information technology and smart manufacturing, and quicken the pace of internationalization to build BIBP into a world-class enterprise.
