Concentrate “New” Force and Set Sail | The Orientation for New Employees of Beijing Institute of Biological Products has been Successfully Finished

On August 25th, 2023, the one-week orientation for new employees of Beijing Institute of Biological Products (hereinafter referred to as "BIBP") came to a successful conclusion. The purpose of this activity is to help new employees know the company's hundred-years history, understand the company's culture, business processes and various rules and regulations, and to help them change their roles from students to professionals quickly, and let them adapt to the organization and find their own position in it as soon as possible, in addition, let the team awareness be enhanced.

Lin Guang, secretary of the Party Committee of BIBP, made an opening speech. Starting with the hundred-years history of BIBP and taking his career experience as an example, he taught the new employees the concept "nothing is trivial", and put forward three expectations: never give up, keep learning, and keep self-reflecting. He hopes that everyone of the young generation will grow into the backbone talents of BIBP.

In the orientation, excellent employees from each departments systematically introduced the company's history, meaning of the brand, rules and regulations. They deeply explained the company's various products, R&D system and quality system, and popularized the knowledge related to production safety, informatization, corporate culture and incorruptibility. In addition, the new employees were invited to visit China National Biotec Group Museum (CNBG Museum), which gave them a more intuitive understanding of the century-old development process of biologics industry, and experienced the scientist spirit of "testing drugs with their own bodies and braving the difficulties and dangers" of their predecessors, and realized the corporate philosophy of "All for health, health for all" of Sinopharm Group.

The company also invited external trainers to help the new employees complete their role change for professionals and the integration into the team. The trainers "take precautions" against the confusion and anxiety situation that new employees may encounter in the first three years, and put forward the 10,000-hour law, reminding everyone not to be too ambitious and rush for success, but to find their own field of study, lengthen the timeline to 10 years, work hard and keep improving, and finally become experts in this field. At the same time, a number of team games ran through the activity to let new employees understand the key points of teamwork and encourage everyone to bring value to others and the team.

At the end of the orientation, Zhang Yuntao, CNBG Vice President and BIBP General Manager, and Zhang Xuemei, BIBP Executive Vice President and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee respectively expressed their welcome and expectation to the new employees, congratulating them on entering the booming biomedical industry, joining this company with a history of over 100 years, having a broad development platform, and expecting them to carry BIBP on the stage and give full play to their own.

At the end of the orientation, company leaders awarded certificates to the new employees and presented certificates and gifts to the five employees who were recognized as "excellent trainees". At last, the company invited employees who have been employed for 2-3 years to share what they saw, felt and realized in the company.

New employees’ speech

This one-week orientation has been very rewarding. The first is a much more comprehensive understanding of our company. The inheritance mentioned by Secretary Lin made me realize the importance of persisting in struggle, getting rid of the stale and bringing forth the new, and passing on the BIBP spirit from generation to generation. The second is a clearer awareness of teamwork. A simple game made me realize that managers need more wisdom in their work, and the importance of communication between leaders and employees. At last, I have a deeper feeling about career planning. The tutor said that it takes 10,000 hours to become an expert in a field, which made me aware that only by being firm in faith and down-to-earth, can we create more value for the company in the future!

After a week's orientation, I have a more comprehensive understanding of BIBP, especially from the aspects of development history, research and development, production, quality and pharmacovigilance. Listening to the outstanding contributions from generations of employees in BIBP to the health of Chinese people even the whole humanity, I felt so proud of BIBP, and I am honored to be able to join it, which is a big family with a hundred-year history. As a vaccine researcher, I also feel the burden on my shoulders. BIBP is not only a well-known vaccine enterprise in China, but also undertakes the mission to help Asia, Africa and Latin America in the field of public health, demonstrating the glory of our country. In the future, I will try to pick up well the "baton" from the predecessors, focus on my responsibility, and strive to become a qualified vaccine researcher, and to contribute to the public health and epidemic prevention in China and the world!
